OLTP:   Online transaction processing.

OMG:   Object Management Group.

OOPL:   Object-oriented programming language.

Open layer:   When used in the context of a business component, the term open layer indicates a "direction of dependency." For example, if the business component layers A, B, C are shown one on top of each other, this does not mean that B "hides" A from C, but that B depends on things in A but not on things in C. C may depend on things in A directly. Cf. Closed layer.

ORB:   Object Request Broker.
